Age Friendly Roscrea was initiated in 2016 to progress the age friendly agenda in Roscrea. A company limited by guarantee Roscrea Cares was incorporated in 2017 and trades as Age Friendly Roscrea. The organisation is based in the old Courthouse in Roscrea and has engaged in a range of activities since it was established including: information provision; representation of views, needs and wishes of older Roscrea citizens; initiating new activities; supporting other initiatives; engaging with and supporting other stakeholders; and being a recognised advocate for older people in Roscrea. Age Friendly Roscrea has had considerable success in the organisation of events and activities for older people. A key action undertaken was the completion of an analysis of the needs of older people in Roscrea in 2018. Age Friendly Roscrea is determined to maximise the potential of the local community to respond to the needs and preferences of older citizens in Roscrea. A range of services and activities are currently ongoing, in development or aspired to. Age Friendly Roscrea is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers.
